Water Restrictions for New Germany, Pinetown and Clermont – 28 February 2018

To allow for the installation of a major water connection on the GO!Durban bus route at the Otto Volek and Dinkleman Road intersection in New Germany, the Mount Moriah Water Reservoir will be shut down overnight from 6pm on February 28 to 6am (with a possible extension to 9am) on March 1.

Mount Moriah services Wyebank and Berkshire Downs reservoirs, which supply water for most of New Germany, Pinetown and Clermont. With this shutdown these two reservoirs will not be topped up until the next morning.

eThekwini Water Services (EWS) will make every endeavour to ensure that both Wyebank and Berkshire Downs reservoirs are full at the point of shutdown, so as not to affect businesses and residents. EWS is requesting that those in the area be mindful that there will be a limited amount of water for use over that 12/15 hour period and treat usage as one would do under drought/restriction conditions, so that the water does not run out.
