Chess sets unwanted, used or new

The GO!Durban Cycle Academy is making an appeal to members of the public for any unwanted, used or new chess sets.

The Academy has three sites in Durban, as part of the eThekwini Municipality’s GO!Durban integrated rapid public transport network’s endeavour to develop a culture of cycling. Run in partnership with the Durban Green Corridor and cycling professionals Peschlsports, the Academy mentors youngsters at cycle parks in KwaMashu, KwaDabeka and Inanda in cycling skills. In addition the children get homework and academic support, and now, as part of the academy’s effort to further stimulate thinking and strategizing, chess lessons will be given during times when the children are not cycling.

Anyone interested in donating chess sets, can drop them off the Green Hub, 12 Lagoon Drive, near Blue Lagoon. For more information contact info@godurban.local:8890

New traffic lights in Pinetown

Bikers, motorists and public transport drivers are to note that new traffic signaling has been installed on the Josiah Gumede and St Johns Road intersection.

Previously the Northern (where Key Pinetown is located) and Southern sides (where Nandos is located) of the intersection worked as two independent junctions having stop lines in the centre of the bridge. Cars had to stop halfway before proceeding through the intersection completely.

Now the Northern and Southern sides of the intersection will work as a single junction. This means that now there are no interim stop positions on the bridge.

This new intersection has been created to allow for the underpass on Josiah Gumede to form part of the dedicated bus lane for GO!Durban, the City’s new integrated rapid public transport network.
